How to Feel Sexy & Good in a Bikini (and delicious 16 Traits of a Beautiful Woman).

I went to the beach the other day and I felt uncomfortable in my bikini and even though I’ve created this blog “Underneath Your Lingerie.” I’m still a woman with deep insecurities from time to time that rise to the surface with the same intensity that the ocean waves were crashing on the shore. I would rather lose myself in the endless beauty of the ocean, the sight of the sparkling sand, the music of the waves crashing blended with the sound of the kids digging sand castles. I don’t want the experience of how I feel in my bikini to dampen my experience and instead I want to celebrate that finally we live in a time where I get to wear a bikini in the sun vs. what women in the past had to wear.

In fact a curious fact about the bikini is that there is a picture from 5,600 B.C. of Chalcolithic mother-goddess of Çatalhöyük, in modern day Anatolia wearing a bikini and there are also pictures of ancient Greece and Roman women wearing a bikini however due to Christian views women were not allowed to wear a bikini for thousands of years and after the Roman era the bikini was wiped from the history books.

When it reemerged it was due in part to the clothing restrictions that came following World War II and even then the bikini was seen as so scandalous that every single model refused to wear it and the designer Louis Réard had to hire the world famous cabaret dancer Micheline Bernardini to wear  it instead.

To quote Euronews, Louis Réard, a French engineer and clothes designer had taken over his mother’s Paris lingerie shop in 1940. While spending time in Saint Tropez, Réard noticed women folding their swimming costumes up to get a better tan.

At the time, another French fashion designer, Jacques Heim, was promoting a new swimsuit — the Atome — that was tipped as the world’s “smallest bathing suit”. Réard produced his own version, an even skimpier concept made of just four triangles of fabric connected by string.

Well the truth is yesterday my bikini was connected by more than just a string. It was a connected with a strand of gold hoops on a side, a mismatched set that I had combined together in a classy way, Black bottoms paired with a white and black triangle bikini topped rimmed with gold that mired the gold strands in my body.

However I’ve added a leopard print bikini to my Amazon cart because I feel like that in addition to what I’m about to share with you, wearing a bikini simply just feels sexier if it’s leopard print. The bikini itself was pretty and it came from years ago when Victoria’s Secret used to create swimsuits (which I’ve heard that they are doing again) however at that exact moment I was like the secret that Victoria’s Secret shouldn’t share so and instead of continuing to beat on myself I reminded myself of  mantra that I created a few years ago …

“How to feel like your wearing the body of a goddess (in this case, even when your feeling a swimsuit) is to feel like your wearing a soul that sparkles like diamonds.
Skin that is well moisturized, gently exfoliated, & softly glows.
Lips that speak words that make herself and other’s feel loved & empowered.
Eyes that soak in the blessings around her.
A mind…this is uncluttered, focused, and is full of blessings, gratitude, and joy.
Arms that are used to serve others.
Hands that are used to create beautiful things.
A heart…that is pure.
An inner essence that is 100% authentically her.
Breasts that represent sweetness, softness, & light. Hips that carry her feminine energy. Thighs that support her in her essence and protect her. A booty that has been contoured to her frame. Legs that carry her to her dreams. Calves that rest under the feminine paradise that she is. And feet that wall in her purpose.

At the end of the day I realized and I hope you too after reading this that my sexiness and beauty isn’t in my body but in my soul. And that’s the bikini that feels like diamonds at the end of the day.
