dressing your body like you love it.

One of the sexiest and most beautiful aspects to us as women is how we dress. From endless YouTube style channels to Instagram, from Versace to Chanel, from high end to Walmart and my favorite – the thrift store, we as women get to enjoy expressing ourselves in fashion. Secretly though sometimes I wish we could reverse the expression because as women I feel like we give too much power to the dress.

“This dress makes my rolls pop out.”

“This dress flatters my curves.”

“This shirt doesn’t fit right.”

What if we flipped it, and instead of the garment our body herself was the signature piece. Like a gorgeous goddess rose and the clothes are simply the diamonds around it. I believe that every woman alive is wearing the body of a goddess and it’s because of this belief that it  slightly shifts my fashion mindset because the focus isn’t ever on the garment, instead it’s on me.

In my biggest dreams what this looks like is celebrating our bodies as women and telling ourselves, “This is how pink looks on my body.” “This is how gold looks on my body.” “This is how beautiful clothes are worn by me.” In a way that your body, instead of being the canvas (i.e. How fashion designers often treat models), your body is the signature statement and the clothes are just there to celebrate your journey.

Since this is a health and weightloss blog this might look like walking over to your closet and saying , “Which dress is going to celebrate the fact that I did my workout today?”

“What pair of heels are going to celebrate the fact that I signed up for a new dance class, or even that I gave myself a new foot massage last night?”

“What do I have in my closet that celebrates just how over the moon sexy I really am?”

To me it’s not about morphing yourself to the clothes but designing the clothes around you. You are not a trend. You are not a manufactured cloth. You are the body of a goddess. With the spirit of one to match.
